Frequently asked questions

Common questions about how Abhinav Finance Consultant works, what AFC does and does not do, and the range of finance and business situations we support enquiries for.

About AFC

Who AFC is, and what AFC's role means

Is Abhinav Finance Consultant a bank?

No. AFC is an independent finance and business consultancy. It is not a bank, NBFC, HFC, lender or SEBI-registered investment adviser.

What is AFC's role, and what decisions stay independent?

AFC facilitates enquiries, introductions and coordination with potentially relevant financial institutions, capital providers, business counterparties and qualified professionals. We do not sanction or disburse loans, make investment decisions, manage investments, provide legal or tax opinions, determine regulatory eligibility, certify valuations, or guarantee financing, investment, business transactions or other outcomes. All funding, investment, valuation, legal, regulatory, commercial and professional decisions are made independently by the relevant institution, counterparty or qualified professional.

Who decides interest rates, fees and other commercial terms?

We facilitate introductions between prospective clients and relevant banks, NBFCs, lenders, investors, institutions and professional service providers. All funding, settlement, investment, approval, interest rates, fees, security requirements and other commercial terms are determined solely by the respective institution or counterparty, subject to its policies, due diligence, eligibility requirements and applicable law.

Does AFC provide loans directly?

No. AFC does not lend its own funds. We facilitate enquiries and introductions to potentially relevant banks, NBFCs, lenders and other financing institutions, who independently decide whether to provide finance.

Does AFC sanction loans?

No. Loan sanction, approval, pricing and disbursement are determined solely by the relevant lender or institution, subject to its own policies, due diligence and applicable requirements.

Can AFC guarantee loan approval?

No. AFC cannot and does not guarantee approval, funding, investment, settlement or any other outcome. Every case is independently assessed by the relevant institution or counterparty.

How does the process work?

You review the relevant service page, complete a case questionnaire with the basic information, AFC reviews it for completeness, and where appropriate arranges an introduction to a relevant institution or professional, who independently evaluates the case.

What information is required initially?

This varies by requirement, but generally includes basic contact details, a description of the requirement, relevant financial or property information, and any existing borrowing, documentation or approvals already in place. Each service page lists what is normally needed.

Does AFC provide legal or tax advice?

No. AFC does not provide legal opinions, tax opinions or legal representation. Where legal or tax matters are involved, an appropriately qualified professional should be consulted.

Does AFC provide investment advice?

No. AFC is not a SEBI-registered investment adviser and does not make investment decisions or recommendations. We coordinate introductions to potentially relevant investors and professional institutions.

Corporate & structured finance

Structured debt, corporate funding and related terms

What is structured finance?

Structured finance refers broadly to financing arrangements designed around the specific characteristics of a transaction, such as assets, receivables, contracts, project cash flows or other identifiable sources of repayment, rather than a standard borrowing product.

What is structured debt?

Structured debt refers to debt financing arranged around the particular assets, cash flows, contracts or transactions involved, rather than only the borrower's general financial position. The final structure is determined by the relevant lender after its own assessment.

What is bridge funding?

Bridge funding is generally intended to provide temporary financing between two identified events — for example, an expected asset sale, refinancing or investment round — and is typically repaid from that event.

What is receivable finance?

Receivable finance refers to financing arrangements connected with amounts owed to a business by its customers or contracting authorities. Acceptance of a receivable depends on the relevant lender's independent assessment.

Project & work-order finance

Institutional projects and government work orders

What is project finance?

Project finance generally refers to financing connected with a specific project, where the project structure, contracts, assets, projected cash flows and repayment sources may form an important part of the lender's or investor's assessment.

What is work-order finance?

Work-order finance generally refers to a financing arrangement where an eligible government, institutional or private contract or work order forms part of the transaction being considered by a lender, alongside the contractor's financial position and other factors. A work order does not by itself guarantee financing.

Property & NPA

Stressed assets and disputed-property matters

What is NPA resolution?

NPA resolution refers broadly to the range of routes — settlement, restructuring, refinancing or takeover funding — that may be available once an account is classified as a non-performing asset, subject to the lender's own assessment.

Can AFC assist with disputed property matters?

AFC can help with case assessment and arrange introductions to relevant advocates, buyers, investors or lenders for disputed, litigated or inherited property matters. AFC does not provide legal opinions or determine title.

Business transactions

Buying, selling and acquiring businesses

What is acquisition finance?

Acquisition finance refers to funding considered in connection with the purchase of an existing business or company, which may involve a combination of buyer contribution, debt and other capital sources depending on the transaction.

Can AFC help buy or sell a business?

AFC can coordinate enquiries and introductions for business owners considering a sale and prospective buyers exploring an acquisition. Valuation, due diligence and final transaction terms remain with the relevant parties and their professional advisers.

Private capital & investment

Equity, AIFs and investor introductions

What is private equity?

Private equity generally refers to investment capital provided in exchange for an ownership interest in a business, as distinct from debt financing which is repaid with interest on a schedule.

What is an AIF?

An Alternative Investment Fund (AIF) is a regulated investment-fund structure governed by the applicable SEBI framework, broadly classified into Category I, II and III depending on its investment strategy.

How can an investor enquire about investing in a business?

A prospective investor can submit a case questionnaire describing their investment appetite, preferred sector and structure. AFC can arrange introductions to businesses seeking capital, subject to independent due diligence by the investor.
